A word from Durango Olive Oil Company
The inside Scoop from Durango Olive Oil Company
Mahalo for your continued support of our locally owned and operated gourmet shop! Your support allows us to offer top-of-the-line EVOO and aged balsamic vinegars, along with locally produced gourmet ingredients and goods.
As you know, costs for goods are rising almost daily. Ingredients, bottles, packaging, and shipping costs continue to increase. Durango Olive Oil Company will continue to offer extra virgin olive oils from various regions. Currently, Tunisia provides the most consistent supply of high-quality olives for our house and flavored oils. These olives are harvested each winter, sun-ripened, and carefully handled to prevent bruising, ensuring the quality of our EVOOs. Our supplier guarantees a first cold press to deliver the finest olive flavor.
Our balsamic vinegars are sourced exclusively from Modena, Italy, and aged for 3-6 years in oak casks, developing their characteristic sweet and tangy notes reminiscent of wine production. Our dark balsamic, made from red wine must, can become thick and viscous, a quality many of you appreciate. We also offer white balsamic vinegars derived from white wine must. The primary difference is that white balsamics don't thicken as much as dark balsamics due to the different characteristics of the wine musts. However, white balsamics blend seamlessly into a wide variety of dishes, as we've demonstrated in preparations like our roasted glazed carrots.
While our core products are imported, we are closely monitoring potential tariffs. Our bottles and corks are also imported, as no US producer can currently provide the necessary quantities at a reasonable cost without the threat of tariffs further increasing bottling expenses. Durango Olive Oil is committed to maintaining both reasonable prices and the high quality our customers expect.
Please understand that price increases may become necessary in some cases. However, we are currently maintaining our established prices and avoiding fluctuating price points for our oils and balsamic vinegars.
Mahalo and Aloha to all!
